Spray the glass black wall with window cleaner.

Wipe off the window cleaner to remove as much of the dust, dirt and other debris that may be on the glass block wall. This will allow the adhesive hooks to adhere to the wall better.

Allow the wall to air dry for several minutes.

Remove the paper backing of an adhesive hook and press it on the edge of the glass block wall.

Continue removing the paper backing and pressing the hooks on the edge of the glass wall until you have a long line where you would like to hang the LED lights. Space the hooks 2 to 3 inches apart.

Let the adhesive cure for several hours.

Plug the LED rope light in and place it in the hooks to see how it looks and for placement.

Unplug the LED rope light and leave the rope light in the hooks.

Clip the other end of the rope light so that it doesn't hang over off of the hooks. Clip in between two lights using a pair of sharp scissors.

Slip an end cap over the cut end of the rope light.

The Rope Lights Tips website states, "To avoid short circuiting the Rope Light, make sure the copper wires inside the Rope Light are cut neatly. Bend the Rope Light left and right, then cut off any extra copper wires."

How to Wire a LED Light to a Switch

A diode is an electronic semiconductor device through which current can only flow in one direction. A light emitting diode (LED) is a device that lights up when current flows through it in the proper direction. While early LEDs were low intensity and only produced red light, modern LEDs are available that release light across the visible spectrum. Because of this, they can be used for many different purposes. In order to have control over when the LED is on, you should wire it to a switch.

Note the rated amperage and voltage for the LED that you purchased.

Calculate the value of resistor that you will need for your circuit using the formula: (source voltage - LED voltage drop) / LED current amps = ohms. For example, using a 12-volt power source with an LED rated at 3.1 volts and 20 milliamps results in a resistor value of 445 ohms. Purchase a resistor with a value close to this value, rounding up as little as possible.

Solder your resistor to the positive wire of the LED; this is called the anode and is the longer of the two wires coming out of the LED.

Ensure the switch is set to the "Off" position. Connect the other side of the resistor to one terminal of the switch with a piece of copper wire. Solder the wire to both the switch and the resistor.

Solder a piece of copper wire between the other terminal of the switch and the positive side of the power supply; this side of the power supply will be marked with a "+" and will usually be the red terminal on a commercial power supply.

Place a third piece of wire between the negative side of the LED and power supply; the negative side is called the cathode and will be the shorter of the two leads coming out of the LED. Solder the wire to the LED and the power supply.

Flip the switch to the "On" position and ensure that the LED lights up properly.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure you wire your LED with the anode and cathode in the proper positions or else the LED will not light up.

Always include the proper value resistor in your circuit. If the LED receives too much current it can explode, causing a safety hazard.

Check your power outlets and extension cords to make sure that your lights are tightly plugged into the outlets and other light strands. Try plugging in another appliance to make sure that the problem is with the lights and not the outlet.

Check the fuses in the female end of your light strand to see if any filaments are broken. If they are, replace the fuses.

Check that the prongs in your electrical plug are making full contact with the circuit. Gently spreading the prongs outward should fix this problem.

Turn off the light fixture. For added safety, unplug the lamp as well.

Slowly remove the burnt out bulb. You can usually do this by turning the bulb counterclockwise.

3.Replace the LED bulb with a new bulb. Install the bulb by turning it in the direction opposite what you did to loosen the old bulb (Typically the direction is clockwise.)

Plug the lamp in, and turn on the light fixture. If the bulb does not turn on, turn the light off and try tightening the bulb further.

Discard the old light bulb in an environmentally safe way (see Tips section).
